New to zynthian but i need some help with a basic setup

The lightning icon tells you that there is something wrong with power supply, it’s not zynthian related, it’s an hardware indicator.

OK I got a psu and now I just get a black screen after the loading…

Those images are tailored to a very specific hardware setup: RPi + PiTFT display + HiFiBerry DAC + encoders board.

Have you changed all the configuration files to use HDMI display and touch instead of TFT display and encoders?

Moreover, don’t hope to get something useful without a DAC. Internal sound is useless and USB audio cards are a pain in the arse.

it was more of a test to see if it I could get it working as is, ill keep getting more bits and pieces until ive got the full kit

Yes… been there, done that (while waiting for PiTFT and HifiBerry shipping)

With just a plain (no touch) HDMI display and no DAC, if you make those changes to config files, you’ll get a perfect deaf and mute zynthian…

There is this thread . . …

The only thing to be aware of is that the directory structure has changed a bit so if things ain’t where they claim to be on the thread they’ve probably just moved somewhere that is a bit more sensible in retrospect.

RB-TFT3.2-V2 can this tft be used with zynthian

Looks like a waveshare32. But quite expensive…

its a touchshield… im not bothered about the price really, just need to be able to use it and get it quite fast here, im in finland and this company will deliver in a few days etc

Maybe they are compatible. Just saying that I would google for waveshare and try to get that. Looks like a waveshare clone to me.

it looks like a clone yes, I just ordered it, few days to come ,

Hi @christianforshaw!

Please, it would be a lot better if you use the last image:

There is no “gorgonilla version” (lite), so you will need a 16GB SD card.

Regards,

@jofemodo
I sent you a few pm about spares I need if you have them for sale still

i just sent you the answer

ok so my hifiberry dac came and my tft

its a joy-it 3.2" touchscreen tft

tried pluging the tft in and all I get is a white screen, the same white screen as if nothing is installed on the raspberry

I plugged my hdmi monitor in at the same time and I get the loading text message screen thing, nothing else

Search for waveshare32 in this forum. You need a special wiring.

is it a different wiring or should I edit the config file

I search this

Load RT Kernel for RBPI2

uncomment if you get no picture on HDMI for a default “safe” mode

uncomment this if your display has a black border of unused pixels visible

and your display can output without overscan

#disable_overscan=1

uncomment the following to adjust overscan. Use positive numbers if console

goes off screen, and negative if there is too much border

#overscan_left=16
#overscan_right=16
#overscan_top=16
#overscan_bottom=16

uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display’s size minus

overscan.

uncomment if hdmi display is not detected and composite is being output

#hdmi_force_hotplug=1

uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA)

#hdmi_group=1
#hdmi_mode=1

uncomment to force a HDMI mode rather than DVI. This can make audio work in

#hdmi_drive=2

uncomment to increase signal to HDMI, if you have interference, blanking, or

no display

uncomment for composite PAL

No, there is a thread in this forum which tells you what you have to do. I don’t have time to search it right now.

I don’t understand the wiring thing you mean, the tft I have is made for the raspberry pi

it should be plug and play out the box

ive installed the tft on the top of the raspberry and I wanted to test it, to see if I get anything other then the Linux/debian/rasbian loading screen that I get on the hdmi monitor I have

I will check a bit more
