You’re a crazy genius…Awesome @wyleu ![]()
Neat! Do you use it via MIDI?
Yep it’s generating a MIDI note on/off at a trigger level, which triggers RipplerX physical modeler. At present all it’s producing is a mallet noise. IT’s nice to provide some emphasis and the mic in the cajon picks up the sound and adds reverb to it, so it has a organic sort of sound. But less is certainly more. Subtle emphasis, and clicks and short bursts seem to blend into the normal drumming to give something that sounds like it could actually be a physically struck object. is what seems to work, but the actual modulation possibilities as the actual values up to 0-10000 can be acquired so the odds are they are going straight into velocity and pitch parameters.
Physical modelling seems more of a constructive approach to use rather than a ‘normal’ VCO,VCF, VCA synth . . .
Should be interesting for one off sound effects and control via MIDI on some of the shorter conductive strips…
I’ll drag it along to a studio session tomorrow evening and see what a professional percussionist makes of it.
In other news I have cycled with the cajon on my back on my bike so as you can see I’m keeping up with the young kids.
