Apt-get upgrade killed my UI! (lilv_world_load_bundle(): )

Hi -
I did “apt-get update && apt-get upgrade” via ssh, and now the display on the Zynthian is dead - no splash screen at boot time, no UI. This is a v3 kit that was working fine until today. The webconf is still working as normal. I tried Sofware → Update, thinking i was missing some pre-req or dependency or whatever - it completed fine but made no difference.

Here’s the UI log that I retrieve via webconf. I noticed errors like: “error: failed to open file /zynthian/zynthian-plugins/lv2/ProM.lv2/manifest.ttl (No such file or directory)”, and sure enough those files are missing. But I don’t know if that’s the root cause or symptom of something else.

when i stop/start the zynthian service via ssh, it appears to work - but then “systemctl status zynthian” gives me the following:

fwiw, here’s the output that i get from running zynthian.sh in the console - i think it’s the same error messages over again - looks to me like jack won’t start? but i don’t know if that’s cause or symptom

We are advised not to do manual updates like this. It borks the box. You may have to flash a new image.

Yep that’s true. Upgrading from the command Line with apt-get could break something.

Zynthian has a dedicated way to update:

• From the UI, in the admin section
• From the webtool

As is, your system looks more or less a bit broken, so you should better:

• Back up your musical creations that are on the sd card
• Burn a New image of zynthian latest stable release

Time for the Buster RC-3 SD image

Hi! We have a new green build and it should be functional: https://os.zynthian.org/2020-08-08-zynthianos-buster-lite-armhf-1.0.0.zip Stop downloading and testing this image. It’s not workig OK… I would like to test this image as a candidate for RC3 (RC3C ) and ask for your help, beloved community as, due to the “New Subnormality”, i’m still living on a little country house with only 4G connectivity, quite limited for downloading SD images … so … if you download, test and the basics a…

Or simply try running this:

sudo rpi-update e1050e94821a70b2e4c72b318d6c6c968552e9a2

to restore the kernel to an older version that works with the display.
