Cakewalk Sonar And Zynthian

Has any one used Zynthian with Cakewalk Sonar? I would love to hear from him/her?

I had cakewalk on Windows but It was at least twenty years ago.

Zynthian should integrate with any DAW equally well. Maybe you could ask a specific question about how to do something. Even users of other DAWs may be able to help.

Hi @DrChelliah,

The V5 should be seen by any DAW, connected through the USB-B gadget port, as an available Midi Out destination, simply called Zynthian.

As an external device - let us say a Midi expander - the Z Is neither OS nor DAW specific. I am not familiar with Sonar, being a Cubase user, but the official Zynthian kit will be able to perform with Sonar whatever conventional Midi data the program is capable of sending to the channels of the processors loaded in the Z chains. From this standpoint, Zynthian will behave just as any other external Midi device.

Kind regards

Thanks for your answer.

How do I send a MIDI signal from my PC computer to Zynthian to pull up a specific bank and a specific patch?

Hello ,

I suggest you read through the wiki searching for ZS3, that is the patch recall format that Zynthian employs for fast preset change, with the usual Program Change Midi message from an external computer, once associated (Midi Learned) an incoming PG to a given preset status within a saved snapshot. Using Program Change directly, like with a hardware synth, would turn out to be very slow and hardly viable, for on-the-fly sound selection.

Regards.
