I have insufficient experience with that bit of hardware and its configuration to be able to say whether such a (mis)configuration would trigger the issue and fankly… I can’t be bothered to investigate!!! (Sorry - only so many hours in my day - and one fewer today due to DST change!)

I discovered the problem was two damaged SD cards… not one, but two. This is the first time since I built my Black Pearl (how many years ago?) that I’ve had this problem. With the Zynthian, I’ve never thrown away an SD card. There’s always a first time.
