If you have this issue with Vangelis, perhaps you could help to fix it.
This is the idea of a BETA release. Users testing new software and helping developers to fix the issues. Without user feedback is very difficult to fix things.
For instance:
What is your hardware setup?
Have you configured your audio interface from the webconf tool?
Please, remember that zynthian is not “plug and play” except for a few supported kits: V3, V4, V5 and MINI-V2. All the rest need you configure your sound interface from the webconf tool.
Vangelis configure a “dummy” audio card for RBPi5 if no supported kit is detected. In the past (Oram) you saw the error screen instead. Could be this your case?

Vangelis face also has some hidden detail, but nobody catched the difference yet …
Had the correct image but hadn’t updated it. Now, after updating, it runs fine as far as i can tell and has Vangelis P. as the startup screen pic. Since my snapshots don’t translate well, i’ll stick with Oram for the time being, though. Thanks again for all your suggestions!
We need to understand what is not transferring from Oram snapshots. We try hard to make the transition seamless including compatibility of snapshots. We need a bug report so that we can fix issues with beta before stable release.
First thing to notice: all of the midi-cc maps are gone (also can’t find the mapping menu for the mixer anymore).
Let me emphasize that i’m not complaining, i’m happy to stick with Oram. I’m a fanatic for open source and public domain software, i appreciate you guys’ work on Zynthian, and i realize that hiccups are part of the non-commercial experience.
I use the V5 kit with a Pi5, btw., since i’d like to get as close to plug-and-play as possible.
MIDI learning has changed quite a bit from Oram.
We need you help us to understand what is failing with your MIDI-learning stuff. WIthout your help is very difficult to fix your issues and your Oram snapshots with MIDI learning will keep untranslated forever. Developers need feedback from the users to fix issues. This is part of the open source development workflow
Various engine and effect controls in various chains (chain controls and engine controls) were mapped to Midi cc-s from an external controller via chain learning. These are no longer present. The faders in the mixer were also mapped to cc-s from that controller, but no longer work, I cannot verify that the cc’s are present because the previous way of seeing the MIDI mappings for the main mixer (press knob 3) doesn’t work any more, and i don’t know how to see or set them instead now.
Regarding transfer from Oram to Vangelis : Transfering only data worked well for me, actually restoring all (Data + config) led to a unbootable Zynthian. may be it’s the problem here ?
PLEASE, DON’T TRY TO RESTORE CONFIG BACKUP FROM ORAM TO VANGELIS. CURRENTLY ONLY DATA CAN BE RESTORED BY RECOVERING CONFIG BACKUP YOU WILL BREAK THE SYSTEM AND YOU WOULD NEED TO BURN AGAIN.
