I2C Hardware Controller

Thanks for the quick reply @riban. I really like your HWC, so when I saw a write up on this device I thought that I would share it. Unfortunately, I am not a coder, but your explanation makes sense. I’m also not sure that it makes sense to reduce the current encoder setup down to a single input device. The Zynthian isn’t very big as it is. I was just curious.

Hi all,

I know im a newbie, but i had some ideas regarding extending zynthians io…

On an Arduino, there is this protocol called firmata, that basically is a way of configuring its io in realtime, remotely .

I envision something like… One time upload into the ‘extending’ mcu (firmata on maple mini??? Seems possible)

Then plugins on zynthian can send its needed config to the maple mini via firmata protol over i2c…

Actually, if it were an spi link between zynthian and a remote mcu… Using the firmata protocol, id think, would open many many wonderful possibilities … Led color organs, dmx interface, … Hmm dmx controlled appreggiated sample player and syncd lighting controller… So many ideas so little competance.

Or something along those lines…

Just voicing an idea i was having…

Edit/ theres a guy Paul Suffregen (spelling? Sorry Paul) heading the Teensy Controller line… I bet a collab would yeild enourmous fruit.
