iPad Multi-Track Midi Recorder Usage

I apologize for being a midi newbie, but I would like to use my Zynthian as a sound machine and my iPad as multi-track recorder or sequencer. So midi going out of the iPad should trigger sounds on the Zynthian. I have the USB camera kit connector for the iPad.I have confirmed it works with my USB midi keyboard. But when I plug the iPad into the Zynthian and start the midi tracks, I do not get any sounds. My assumption, and that is what I want to verify, is that I need an actual midi interface on the iPad and not just the USB interface. If that is what I need, what will be the cabling layout to hook up both my iPad, my USB keyboard, and the Zynthian so I can play live with the recorded midi tracks from the iPad? Thanks.

Yes. The zynthian is a USB host and only can communicate with USB compliant devices, but not with other USB hosts, like your iPad. The easiest way for sending MIDI from your iPad is using a standard USB->MIDI interface.

Regards!
