The next time it updates they should be gone.
Mutated Instruments now has bit crusher, overdrive, and ring mod per oscillator. We are getting into MS-20 level of weird sound possibilities and I’m all for it.
…and now has after touch, velocity, mod wheel, and expression as mod sources. Also, VST’s with UI for Linux and Windows.
thank you for your work PatF: could you also share some presets?
Yeah I will soon. I’ve been waiting for it to be feature complete first. If anyone else has any feel free to send them so we can build a factory preset list.
Updated again, now with 4 Mod slots, 2 sets of Reverb and Delay (Matrixverb and Tapedelay2 from Airwindows), and the Windows and Linux VST3 UI’s have sound activated animation just for fun. I think… It might be done. This thing is everything I could have wanted if I was doing industrial in the 90’s, which I think was my subconscious goal lol. I hope everyone has a good weekend, now lets build some crazy presets.
Hi Pat, this is Pat speaking ![]()
First thanks a lot for this great work and porting Mutable Instruments stuff to Zynthian!
I updated Zynthian firmware earlier today and I didn’t see the newest stuff show up (bit crusher, 4th modulation slot…) so maybe it hasn’t been integrated yet?
If I may, I have a few notes/questions/suggestions:
- LFO frequency range would benefit from being able to go lower, like down to 0.1Hz or 0.05Hz, this would be nice for slowly evolving textures or arpeggio sequence (as it’s free running)
- Attack time: having finer resolution on short attack times would be an improvement: as of now, there is nothing between 0 and 100ms (env time settings are usually logarithmic, like pitch or level)
- Bug? When I slow attack down past 0.3s or 0.4s, I often no longer get any sound anymore (Note On does nothing), then need to dial attack time back to 0 for getting sound againI understand that Braids Envelope may be a modulation source, less that Braids Timbre can be one for instance, as it’s a static value… unless it is modulated itself => is it a way to modulate 2 parameters with the same source? (like modulate Braids Timbre with LFO then Plaits Harmonics with Braids Timbre?)
- Not sure what the difference is between Braids FM and Braids pitch targets
- Not sure what the difference is between Braids level and Braids out targets
- Having Filter cutoff/resonance as modulation targets would be very useful (but maybe that’s like biquad filter implementations not easy to modulate in real-time?)
Congrats again for the good work!
Pat (too)
