New testing image Bookworm Oram 64bits

not directly related to maartmaart issue:

I just updated my custom Zynthian (Pi5) and there was an annoying loop at start even if webconf recognised the gear.

I realized that the issue is caused by the loading of last_state.zss
so
I renamed a simple, one chain snapshot, as last_state.zss, I uploaded it in snapshots folder
I reboot and all works perfectly.

So my suggestion is, as default, set off the setting Restore last state on startup.
What do you think?

Sorry reacted too early

I know it, but when you update sometimes it seems some setting are overwritten

for example after yesterday update, the audio card was changed to Hifiberry and Zynthian was silent: I chose my audio card and then was ok

I canā€™t imagine how this could happen. I mean, the update process changing the selected soundcard.Warn if this happens again please

Am I the only one who canā€™t connect to zynthian.local (or IP address) via browser after the last update?

EDIT: NOTE: net connection is working, midi over rtp-midi going to zynthian.

I just flashed a new SD card using 2024-09-14-zynthianos-bookworm-aarch64-oram-2409.img.xz

At boot Zynthian falls in a loop switching between a black page and a system page where the last line is zynthian login:

to complete the installation the:
switch off
connect to network by ethernet
now I can see Zynthin by zynthian.local
change the audio default (V5 adac) to my previously working audio setup (Justboom) and reboot

finally it completes the boot but touch does not work properly: pressing on Admin voice I cannot enter in Admin submenu

I see there is an update, I launch the update
after update the touch now works perfectly so I can set WIFI network from touch screen

hope it can be useful for other users

zynthian.local does not work but using IP address WEBCONF works

The installation seems OK, except for the blank screen. It seems like the splash images were not correctly generated. The autoconfig canā€™t detect audio cards, so connecting to webconf to do it is the normal procedure.
Regarding the touch problem, could you be more explicit?
What is your setup? Rbpi4 or 5? Logs? Etc .

This morning Zynthian at boot went once more in a loop blinking between a black page and a system page where the last line is zynthian login:

I can see Zynthian from Webconf.
I launched the update from Webconf, this is the log

but now Zynthian is in a loop with many lines of code on screen
Starting and stopping Zynthian user interface

after thi s long loop now is in in a loop blinking between a black page and a system page where the last line is zynthian login:

Note this, please:

No space left on device!!

Or your SD-card is too small (32GB is the minimum recommended, 16GB is not enough for the full Oram image) or for some reason the auto-expand procedure didnā€™t work in the first boot.

Wait! I see in the previous info from the webconf dashboard:

SD Card: 49% (14G/29G)

So it seems like an issue with your SD-card. Please try with a different one.

Regards,

BTW, could you send the first boot log? You can get it eaily like this:

cat /root/first_boot.log

Thanks

help me to find the way to find first_boot.log

@piattica There should be a space between cat and /root/first_boot.log.

cat is the command to show the contents of a file.

thanks
first_boot.log (3.7 KB)

is it useful?

Not specially. Just to confirm that first boot was ā€œnormalā€.
It seems something is not OK with your SD-card. Try with a new good quality SD-card.

Hi Zynthianers!

I have downloaded and tried to install twice the new ORAM *2024-09-14-zynthianos-bookworm-aarch64-oram-2409.

The first time after extracting .img file over a fresh 64GB card.
The second time without extracting the original .xz file. In this case, curiously, ā€“balena etcherā€“ recognised it and toasted as a valid file.

Unfortunately in both cases I got the same result: nothing.
After tunrning on the machine with the new card, the screen does not pass from a black ā€œilluminatedā€ status, without any vital sign as text, code strings, movementā€¦ nothing happens.
This morning, before leaving home, I left the card inserted several hours hopping a sort of slow process. When arrived the screen still was in black, but nothing.

Am I missing something important with this new version?

Thanks in advance,

erasmo

I did it. No changes.

Hi all,

Cannot save Snapshot when midi controller is assigned to MOD-UI plugin. The assignment is done in Zynthian itself.

I was so happy to see that the lv2 plugins of MOD-UI got a bypass switch in the zynthian softwar. howeverā€¦ when I assign a controller to the bypass switch I cannot save the snapshot anymoreā€¦ it gives an errorā€¦ After that I have to replace the last_state.zss file otherwise the Zynthian does not startupā€¦

Cheers,
Maarten

Please, could you send the logs?

Thanks!

Hi @erasmo !

What is your hardware setup? Did you try to access the webconf or by ssh?

Regards,

Hi, I have the following problems with the 2024-09-14-oram version:

  1. The display setting to WaveShare 7 HDMI+USB 1024x600 does not work correctly, in the previous old version (unfortunately, I donā€™t know which version I used), the settings worked without problems.
  2. Even if I set Generic HDMI/DSI Display, I am not able to select items in Main screen by touch, switching between Main and Mixer works for me
  3. After update I canā€™t login to webconf, connection times outā€¦, as I reported yesterday

In terms of hardware, it is the same machine on which I ran oram without problems. Debugging MIDI - #8 by ToFF Raspbery Pi 400, without encoders and switches.
