Pd not working [solved]

Using Aruk, updated frequently.

A few weeks ago, PD stopped working. There’s no sound when I run ‘generative relaxing’.

Note: I’m not using a real Zynthian, it’s just Pi3, USB sound, keystep, and a cheap 3.5 touchscreen from China.

Could somebody with a real Zynthian running Aruk please try to run the PD ‘generative relaxing’ patch?

Thanks!

Tried it this morning, it works fine.

Thanks for checking. This is a mystery.

What is “PD” I went looking last night, and could not find what I was looking for.

Sorry - PD is Pure Data. It’s a ‘Special Layer’.
Special Layer->PureData->generative->generative relaxing.

Your best bet is to ssh into the zynth and watch journalctl -fl while you start the pd patch.

@tele_player,

Thanks! I got it to load, but I can’t figure out what to do with it sorry.

The ‘generative relaxing’ patch should automatically play a weird generative sound, which can be altered by the various controls.

It should start making noise as soon as it loads. It doesn’t use a keyboard. It sounds a bit like windchimes… I find it fascinating, haunting…

I don’t think it’s working for me then, I got no sound.
I don’t have an official zynth, but my kit is pretty close…
“>journalctl -r” makes it look like some issue loading the engine?

You’re probably going to have to enable debug, enable it in /zynthian/zynthian-ui/zynthian_gui_config.py

Hi @tele_player!

I can confirm that my Zynthian v2 with ARUK RC-3 (updated) is failing. I can’t make PD to work ;-(
I’m trying to figure where the problem is, although it seems complex.

Regards,

It used to work, and the same files for ‘generative relaxing’ work on my Mac.

It should be solved now. Please, update and test it.

regards,

@jofemodo -
thanks, it is working again.

As the user who entered the bug on git, I confirm it works well on my side also. Thanks !

Warning: excessive use of generative_relaxing may provoque addiction :wink:
Maybe we will need to create a group therapy : “Hello, I am a generative_relaxing addict”

Yes, it’s addictive.
I’m thinking I’ll make a dedicated generative relaxing box with a pi zero and 4 encoders.

For a VERY self congratulatory tone, but, it would appear to be rather sound-sample-light as evidence of a fix. :face_with_monocle:

Some of you are going to suffer for the fact I’m in an Autobahn MIDI file at the moment… :motorway:

A generative mood box sounds VERY fine.

In my case, it’s a conscious act of civil disobedience. With all due respect, I find the pedantic insistence on sound samples tedious and inane.
With all due respect, and no offense intended.

Our ultimate objective is to generate material that has been produced with the toolset.
If the forum threads are to represent addressed issues by the addition of [Solved] for instance, an as such you need evidence. Sound samples from a zynth represents a most specific evidence.
Evidence with an accompanying sound sample of PD would allow people interested in such a technology to hear it at work, which becomes a fringe benefit from properly confirmed ticket issues.
We want people to use the interfaces that allow sound samples from the zynth to be transferred into publishable files and this simple nagging insistence does allow us to know that the person at the other end has a genuinely function zynth.

The crazed personna, is as with much in this sphere about performance.
If you think it’s draining, try looking at it from my side… :slight_smile:
I’ve used it before and it has been complimented on it’s social community building potential.

Mind you if you had attached a sound sample. . . :face_with_monocle:
