Update software from region where has a problem to access Github

Hi!

Just wanna report a small problem of update software from region, such as China, where has an unstable access to Github. I constantly have the following reports when I try to update my Zynthian.

fatal: unable to access ‘https://github.com/zynthian/something.git/’: gnutls_handshake() failed: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated.

May I suggest, to add a new feature of selecting users’ regions into webconf, which enables the update script automatically using the optimal git links according to the region, would be convenient and friendly to certain users.

I know there is a VPN technique that is able to handle this situation, however, it is quite difficult for people, like me, who are not that pro in Linux…

Thanks for your time to read this message, and great appreciation if you can contribute to develop this feature :handshake:

It looks like we’d need to maintain a fork in https://gitee.com

Yes, in China, people use gitee.com to manage their codes instead of github.

It would be convenient if the Zynthian has a function of selecting countries, which can automatically change pi’s timezone, menu language, the zynthian update to an optimal git address and linux’s apt-get update address, etc.
