USB audio interface instead of hifiberry?

The Zero is $16.90 at Amazon with free shipping option.

Hifiberry dac+ADC seems to be the good choice as

  • It’s the official zynthian’s kit audio interface
  • Has high end Burr Brown converters
  • Can be used with TRS inputs/outputs wich are common in a professional audio setup

The official internal card is good and I like my Behringer UMC1820 but I don’t think your audio drop-out issue is related to soundcard so if you are happy with your Traktor then just use that.

About USB audio interfaces : if possible, use something based on the Texas Instruments PCM2901 chip.
It was the chip I used in the iModular CV interface I designed a few years ago, and I found it was giving an excellent latency, much lower than audio interfaces based on microcontroller
The PCM2901 uses a full hardware USB controller (it does not run any code), which removes the extra buffers needed by many microcontrollers, giving lower latency
However, I have to say that audio quality is a little bit lower than with the HiFiBerry (PCM2901 chips are “only” 16 bits, while the HiFiBerry DAC is 24 bits)
