We do like carefully prescribed and decently defined areas of anarchy.

As sticklers for tradition Tuesday evenings are generally considered acceptable, and it allows the more rapacious member’s of the community, You know who you are!, Time to acquire the necessary dispensations for attendance at such an event . . . .

If it were 7:00 GMT, we put a few more footprints into a well warn path…

And it might keep @Baggypants out…

Pretty much, I think @riban dishes out the tokens of entry but I could be wrong…

You do get to see the forum’s ( fora …? ) luminaries in all their glory…

It’s not a pretty site . . .

Mind you I like the idea of the LFO cycle… It will probably involve church bells. . .

Think of it as a night at the pub / cafe / men’s shed / youth club. We meet on a video conference and talk nonense for a few hours until no one can stand the inane chat any longer and every one leaves. Its very informal and sometimes we even talk about Zynthian!

The group here is a small, semi regular (as in timing not in mental health obviously) group of Zynthianeers that video meets on Jitsi Meet and very occasionally actually discusses Zythian. As mentioned, you can just ask to be DM’ed the link to not out of any exclusivity … just to keep the link private from trolls I guess.

As you have likely gathered it is rather informal group and I probably would encourage you not to read anything written by anyone here at any time, let alone the whole 1150 posts but Riban does do a good(?) summary of past meetings discussions.

The next meeting is not scheduled but likely soonish … when someone’s tolerance for procrastination is exceeded and a time is decided :\> Recently We have been meeting roughly monthly on a Tuesday at 19:00 UTC (using Zynthian/Zulu time as we typically cover at least 3 continents & 4 or more timezones) but more frequently at other times as needed or wanted by people.

During the COVID-19 pandemic I suggested an online meet to provide some social interaction for like-minded people and Zynth Club was born. We meet irregularly via online video conference. There is no agenda. We just chat. It is good when there is something about Zynthian or other musical instruments to discuss. Everyone is welcome.

For details of how to join the meeting, DM me (@riban) using this forum. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 5th March 2024 at 19:00 UTC.

Another night of nonesense but with a twist - there was a lot of talk about Zynthian!!! Of course, like so many things you had to be there to enjoy it - no, really! I can’t remember most of what we said so these notes are mostly links to web stuff we mentioned.

- 64 is twice as good as 32 - isn’t it? 64-bit Debian 12 (Bookworm) based Zynthian is getting a lot of interest and rightly so
- The audio player is very different and some say, much better. I demonstrated many of the new features
- We nearly, almost, saw a new club member! Please do come along. We need you to spice up the discussions.
- It turned into a bit of a book club at one point with recommendations for “The World in Six Songs” and “Corporation Man”. Both look like good reads.
- Is there a place to share and hear truely open and free music? Most sites that may have previously offered such a service seem to now be kinda record labels, tauting their members’ material for paid contribution. Not just free but open so that anyone can use the music in any way they wish.
- [Daisy Seed](https://electro-smith.com/products/daisy-seed) seem to be trying to obfuscate their hardware designs in a bid to protect against imitation but it is not clear that such efforts are effective.
- Various efforts to build hardware controllers by various people have led to various amounts of frustration but also the consideration of how that compares with commercial products including [QLab](https://qlab.app/) and [Avid](https://www.avid.com/products/avid-s1).
- Avid’s control protocol may be used in DAWs but not in hardware controllers which makes it a one-way street that, although _may_ be nice to include in Zynthian, it doesn’t match the Zynthian ethos.
- We had a demonstration of [Chorda](https://artiphon.com/products/chorda-by-artiphon). It looks like some fun but we are yet to see / hear how effective it is as a musical instrument. We look forward to hearing more in the (near?) future. (We have [discussed in the past](https://discourse.zynthian.org/t/keyboards-with-built-in-smarts-about-music-theory-both-conventional-eg-theoryboard-and-microtonal-eg-lumatone-and-everything-in-between-including-brain-interfaces/7847/35).)
- It can pay to go pot-luck in the auctions… One of our friends picked up a bargain [Hydrasynth](https://www.ashunsoundmachines.com/hydrasynth-key) - although it may need some maintenance. Goodbye weekend!
- What happened to Zynthbox? The question was asked but it is quite quiet on that front. There is still progress on their [github](https://github.com/zynthbox) so we hope our friends are progressing towards success.
- We celebrated new family members and thought about absent club members.

It was actually quite a full night of discussion, little of which made it here so do pop in next time to experience it I.R.L… but virtually!
