@jigglydad Would be great if you could record a short performance to show how you’re using it.
In other words: 
Hey LFO. I am presently away from home for a few days, but I will be happy to look more in-depth into this when I get home. A quick search would indicate to me that there are several differences between the MPK49 and the MPK249. What preset are you starting with on your MPK49? It would appear that even if you start with the Generic preset (which I understand to be preset #30 on your device), it seems that there are a lot of differences between the two devices in terms of how these things are mapped. Specifically, it seems that they swapped the assignments for the knobs and faders between the two devices, so they are reversed. For the buttons, they are simply a completely different range of numbers. These seem like they should be very easy changes to make once I am home. I had already contemplated getting this driver to work with the various MPK 2 series, which I believe should be quite similar to one another. For this device, I suspect it might make sense to just ship a slightly modified driver. If any of the maintainers have any opinions, I’m all ears. Also, it could very well be more efficient to get to the finish line if LFO tries to make some of the changes themselves, which might lean in favor a a separate driver as well.

On the plus side, I stream all the time on Twitch, so you are welcome to ask me questions live about it if you are so inclined. However, I must confess that my camera isn’t even setup to show my keyboard as things stand, so, from a visual standpoint, I’m not presently setup to demonstrate, whether it is live or not. Obviously, I could use the built-in capability to capture the Zynthian’s display and show that part, but I don’t think that is probably what you most want to see.
At the end of the day, I am still quite a novice at MIDI. I primarily play keys to the end of singing. I’m happy to help as best I can, but I am not a wizard or anything.

Actually this is probably a canonical base line presentation from our perspective.
It’s designed to be pretty easy.

Ok. Scratch a lot of what I said about the mappings. Since I was away from home, I didn’t have my real driver and real device to look at. I would suggest that you use the MIDI log page on the Zynthian web interface to view in real-time what MIDI CC channels things are coming in on, etc. After coming back and looking at things, I remembered that the Generic Preset that I ended up settling on had a very strange layout for the faders, knobs and buttons. So, since I don’t have an MPK49 here to test with, I could only rely on what I can find on the internet (which I don’t expect to be reliable after my experience with the MPK249. Since I think that you will get a lot farther faster if you can gather real data off the device as you use it, I would suggest that you do that. If, at that point, you’d like my assistance getting it working, I would be happy to assist.
Gather as much information as you can about the pads as well. In my configuration, all of the pads on that preset are on MIDI channel 10, That was one of the key reasons for choosing to use this preset over some others, because it allows segmenting all of the pads into one channel that can be unrouted from chains, and treated only as a looping control mechanism. I suspect that given the layout of your pads, the mappings are going to be wildly different.
So, please gather as much of that information as you can, which I think will get you 95% of the way to having most of it working. I am happy to help if you run into other problems, limited, of course, by not having the device here to test. Good luck.
