Automute

Is there an auto-mute function on Zynthian? Like when it passes +5dB is mutes to prevent damaging stuff?
Thanks!

Okay, will do!

Do you think it is wise to put a brickwall limiter on the master track for when playing around with samples and synths?

I never needed it, but let’s talk about it

Well, some time ago I almost had a heart attack when playing around with tape saturation and lots of different things. I can’t remember exactly what I added last, but it blew my ears out. Now I’m used to having an auto-mute like in Reaper, which mutes the master track when it exceeds 10+dB. This is nice because is simultaneously gives you a hint that something somewhere is wrong (which a limiter doesn’t). On a computer it is also easier to quickly change the volume and save yourself. On Zynthian one has to first go to the mixer/level menu before he/she can change the volume or is there a quicker mute button? Thanks!

I 100%-ly suppurt either solution of that matter.

There are many linux plugins that have stepped gain controls of 0, 1, 2, 3 … n, while the number is the gain multiplier.

Also most synth engines are aiming at -0dBfs peaks for any reasons while sampled instruments oftentimes are far below 0 dBVU, which can lead to loadness differences obviously.

I’d rather say, a limiter plus an auto mute function for higher values or longer exceeding of a given threshold would be great.
