Balanced mic with Hifiberry DAC+ ADC Pro

I’m trying to use a Zynthian as a vocal effects processor. I can’t seem to get the input settings in “Mixer Controls” to save and apply.

More info:
I just finished building a Mini V2, but am using a Hifiberry DAC+ ADC Pro sound device since it supports balanced inputs. Oh, and I took the opportunity to use a raspi 5 instead of the raspi 4 I have on another system.
This is my first time playing with inputs to a Zynthian, and I’m having trouble switching it from Unbalanced to Balanced in the Mixer Controller of the webGUI. The settings don’t seem to be saving.

Looking at the info on hifiberry’s site, I think I need to either change ADC Left Capture Source to {VIN1P,VIN1M}[DIFF] or else change Input 1 Mode to Balanced Mono TRS.

I can hear audio through the system when I connect my PC audio source, and I see small responses to the microphone when I connect it.

I expect I’ll also need to boost the Input Gain, but as I said none of the settings seem to take when I save them. They’re back to what they were before after I reboot.

Any ideas?

Yes. There is the input gain missing.
I have in one Zynthian the very similar HifiBerryy DAC2ADC Pro that uses the HifiBerry DAC+ ADC Pro preset and use these settings for Mixer Controls:

Then save with OK and in the text field below I then adjust the sorting like this:

Digital_0,Digital_1,PGA_Gain_Left,PGA_Gain_Right,ADC_Left_Capture_Source,ADC_Right_Capture_Source,DSP_Program,Deemphasis

This way it works perfectly. For differential signal select in Zynthian UI Audio Levels->Other Controls ADC Left Capture source {VIN1P,VIN1M,DIFF} and Right Capture Source No Select.

In Input Levels adjust gain.

A nice feature is DSP Program, I use Ringing-less low latency FIR
and under Output Levels I switch Deemphasis off, so I have all the original grit and air character of some instruments on the output and can adjust later on the signal chain.

I really appreciate your help!
Your settings got me pointed in the right direction.

I’m still not sure quite how I did it, because sometimes the Web GUI settings seem to save and sometimes they don’t. But I got my XLR microphones working on both Left and Right channels!

I didn’t have success until after I used the terminal commands in the hifiberry datasheet:

Not sure if it mattered or not though.
Ultimately, these settings worked really well for me, and at this point they’re still working after a reboot:
