Do you love techno? Do you like DJing?
This is an alternate proposal for creating demo snapshots for Vangelis.
Vangelis comes with a bunch of new features, being the new audio-clip engine & launcher one of the most awaited and ground-breaking.
To illustrate and test these new features i propose to create a “techno demo snapshot” that recreates a short techno session.
It could be done by using one of the freely available EDM-TECH packages. There are a bunch of them, each one featuring 1000 loops (aprox.) at a fixed BPM.
Just install some of these EDM-TECH packages and create a few audio-clip chains. 4 could be a good number, but you could use more. Then start adding loops, organizing phrases to get a short techno session. You can do all the process while playing, including replace a playing loop without getting out-of-sync.
You could use a single collection at a fixed BPM. If you do so, set the zynthian’s BPM to match the samples’ BPM, so you avoid auto-warping and loading loops will be blazing fast.
Alternately but you could mix loops from different collections. In these case, loading loops would be a little bit slower because of auto-warping, but still perfectly workable, specially if your zynthian has a Pi5.
To improve things, you could add some filters and FXs to the chains (Perfomix!!) to make the session more interesting.
If you have an Akai APC40 or APC keys 25, these controllers are perfect for the task. Indeed, if you have the APC40, you would enjoy using the new AB mixing (X-fader) features. Any Novation Launchpad would be good too.
Finally, don’t forget that the goal is getting a demo snapshot, so please, after DJing and getting fun, consider generating a final demo snapshot with a short session (a few minutes is enough). This demo snapshot should use loops from a single collection, to avoid having to install more than one package. Indeed, if you could select the loops and move them to a new folder for the snapshot, we could make a demo package that include just the used samples and the snapshot.
OK! This is too much blablabla, you probably prefer to see what i’m talking about:
Just choosing random loops for a short subset of EDM-TECH-128BPM. Sorry for my horrible mixing and the clipping. It’s for this i need you!! ![]()
Enjoy!
