Chains keep reverting to a different instrument than chosen

Hi,

I do a lot of covers using the midi player and the mixer.

The following happens which I find frustrating

I add my instrument chains and select the instruments recommended by the midi file

However, I generally want to change some of the instruments to have my ’version’ of the song after initial input.

Once I hit play, the chain reverts to the original instrument selected.

Can I change this so once I select an instrument other than recommended it sticks?

I am using v5, and

Hi @Pauly !

SMF files (*.mid) normally include “program change” events to setup the instruments they use at start . They generally use the GM convention for this.

By default, zynthian is configured to use program change for ZS3, so these “program change” messages should be ignored, but probably you have disabled “Program Change for ZS3” in the admin menu, so the program changes are passed to the engine. I suppose you are using “FluidR3 GM” or something like this, right?

Yes I am using the fluid engine. Let me check the webconfig.
