I am a newborn to Zynthian v5 and bought a used one off of the web. I seem to have trouble adding additional effects engines via the configuration tool. I am fully connected to the interface via wifi. When I check different effects engines there is no way to upload them to my Zynth, nor is there a save option after checking them off. I have tried the update method and unchecking effects to make room. I really want wah, autowah, filters and chorus for my electric pianos, but no dice. I thought I had scoured the wiki/manual, but not a ton of info other than listing some engines. They don’t seem to show up on my Zynth no matter what I do. Otherwise I really love and appreciate the unit.
Thanks for your patience!
hi @cmheinich - I’m not sure I understand where you’re stuck, perhaps this will help:
https://wiki.zynthian.org/index.php/Zynthian_UI_User’s_Guide_-_Oram#Basic_workflow
https://wiki.zynthian.org/index.php/Creating_a_synth_chain_and_adding_a_MIDI_chorder_%2B_audio_FXs
After selecting, your Zynthian should go to a mixer view of the chain.
You can save the configuration as usual from the mixer by pressing the SHOT button, upper right - under ZS3.
Apologies if I was unclear. I understand chains relatively well, but cannot install uninstalled effects engines onto the unit itself. I am using the configuration tool here: http://zynthian.local/.
What do you mean exactly? How are you “uninstalling”? How are you trying to “install”? Please give step by step description of what you are doing. The words you have used don’t make sense to me.
I go to the configuration tool and select software engines http://zynthian.local/sw-engines. Then I click on the tab that says audio effects and I attempt to check the ones I wish to install. However they do not install. I guess I need to know what to do after I check the audio effects that I would like to show up on my Zynthian. Not really sure how to describe this as I am using the exact wording on the zynthian configuration page.
Could you please provide a link to the “zynthian configuration page” so we can see the language used in context?
In webconf: SOFTWARE->Engines, there are lists of installed engines. You can enable or disable them here by clicking the checkbox. (Note: This is simply enabling them, not installing. They remain installed.) You can also enable and disable in the UI by bold press in the engine list.
After enabling, the processor will appear in the corresponding catagory list. In Webconf you will see a column called Category, e.g. “Black Pearl 4A” is in the "Percussion£ category. In zynthian you need to use left/right arrow to navigate the groups until you find the one containing the processor you enabled.
Please let us know your success.
Out and about atm, but will check tonight.
I feel silly. I had no idea one could use a swipe and was only paging down. Ha! I appreciate your help.
