Hi @neuwirthe - are you inserting the uSD card fully into the Zynthian mainboard socket using the provided rectangular plastic insertion-removal tool? It should end up almost at the inner edge of the metal chassis. I was fooled by this once.
Hi @neuwirthe !
Didnāt you receive a SD-card cable with the black thermal protector instead the yellow one?
Regards
The one on the photo with yellow āstripesā at the end which is plugged into the raspi is the oane I received in the supplementary cable package you sent.
Can you send me the cable with the black thermal protector you are referring to?
Itās on the way
I tried with the 2 cables with the black protector you sent.
The problem persists.
Everything works fine if the SD card is inserted into the raspi,
and the machine doe snot boot with the cable and the SD-card in the outer slot.

Hi @neuwirthe,
As i told you above, all main boards are tested before shipping, including the external SD-card holder. They are fully connected to display and RBPi, then a SDcard is inserted in the holder and the system boots to check audio subsystem. We donāt ship any mainboard that doesnāt pass this QC.
When we had this kind of issues with mainboard that passed the QC, we always solved the issue by replacing the SD-card. Are you sure your SD-card are not the problem? Please, try new ones, from a different dealer, different sizes, etc.
We always had the better results with Sandisk Ultra and Extreme, but be warned that we also found some batches of these models that didnāt work at all when inserted in the external holder and we had to re-use them in other projects.
Regards,
I ttried different SD cards, one ot them the one you recommended,
64GB ScanDisk Ultra
OK! I will send you a mainboard replacement.
Please, send the broken one for inspection.
Regards
Iāve got a similar issue. Iām able to run system with piās sd card-reader, but have problems with
V5.1 reader. First i thought I ruined the 2 sent cables and ordered a new one. I got the one with the support and was able to boot the system. However, when I went to webconf and tried to change the config, saving froze the system and it wouldnāt boot again. Same when saving settings through gui. It seems that writing through v5.1 reader corrupts the card.
I have tried 2 sandisk ultras 64gb and 32 gb and a transcend 32gb (which all work fine in internal slot). Transcend however did not even boot from the v5.1 reader.
Tonight I swapped the new silent screen and burned new oram to 2 of the cards and thought to give v5.1 card reader one more shot. I had only removed the sd card-end not the ribbon connector. After reconnecting sd-end, and to my suprise, all cards function as they should. Maybe the dummy card of the cable just was not seated right first times.
Edit: except the transcend fails to load snapshots and freezes. It was with vangelis so thereās a chance that something else causes it.
Congrats @mankiis !
Iām happy you finaliy found and solve the problem. And itās also good to know our QC iis working OK.
We already ship a mainboard replacement, so please, could you send It back when you receive the package? Perhaps you could reject the package so It would be returned to us without extra cost for you.
Thanks!
Hi @jofemodo; Iām happy too to have switching between production and testing unit easier
Did I understand correctly that you sent a replacement board also to me (to Finland) on top of the one sent to neuwirthe? I didnāt find any emails considering the shipment.
I hijacked this string that neuwirthe started as symptoms were the same.
Sorry. I was confused. The mainboard replacement is shipped to @neuwirthe, not you, so you donāt need to worry about.
Regards
I will send back the original motherboard when I receive the replacement
to avoid having to open and close the enclosing twice.
