Thanks for your help. One mystery has been solved.
It turns out that my unzip only extracted a partial copy of the image, but I didn’t notice that failure/problem until an hour ago.
I have now gotten a complete extraction and have written it to my uSD. My Zynthian now appears to boot, so I will continue with diagnostics to validate it further.
