Error IP: Audio MIDI
I have assembled zynthian v5.1 today. After the first SD 64GB Transcend Premium the error IP: Audio/MIDI appeared. I checked all connections and rebooted, error again. Then I booted the Lite version with a SanDisk ultra 16GB. Again error. Now I checked all connections again and rebooted with another Transcend Premium 64GB. Again the error.
I have read the posted article about the ERROR IP: Audio/MIDI. So I have tried all things.
What can i do? What is wrong?
Greetings Rudi
Hi and welcome to the community! One thing you could test is inserting sd card directly in the pi slot. It could rule out sd-extender cable at least. I’m sure more advanced users will help you further.
You can help them help you by digging the /root/first_boot.log file and posting it here.
The system is not detecting the control board. Please, check carefully the control-1 ribbon cable. Both sides. Review the tutorial to be sure you connected things in the right way. Check cable terminations and rfc connectors.

Just want to reply I am also getting this error, having just built the new Zynthian V5.1 two days ago as well- I’ve just been troubleshooting, and was trying to order a new sd card as I was trying to use a sandisk 125gb and couldn’t find if that was acceptable in size or not.
Though mine boots with the screen upside down as well.
Having taken it apart a few times now, I was going to try some other etcher software next since balenaEtcher did fail once, splitting the disk into two partitions.
Thank you very much for your kind help. I have turned the direction of the Control-1 cable. And I used the Raspberry PI imager with a SD 64GB Transcend Premium. Now Zynthian starts!
Just wanted to follow up.
Figured out mine as well, Raspberry Pi imager works fine with a SanDisk 128GB Extreme microSDXC card too, was having issues with balenaEtcher-
And the micro to ribbon adapter cable wasn’t playing nice. Works when plugged directly into the Pi though, hopefully it just needs a replacement an isn’t the adapter on the board itself.
Balena Etcher is messed up since 1.18.11. The Raspberry Pi Imager works very well for Zynthian images. Choose Use Custom
for OS and do not use the customisation feature (click no when asked).
