Export a Zynthian Os img for back up cloning?

Hi All.
I would like to try clone my main Zynthian img, which is on a 256 Usb, to a 256 Sd, that
I think it’s possible using clonezilla.
The files inside the Usb with Zythian only occupy like 800 Mb… so what I really wanted
to do, was to downgrade the medium, to maybe a 16 Gig Usb, which I have plenty spare…

I don’t want to rebuild everything from scratch, I would like to be able to export the settings
somehow if I had to go that way, so I wouldn’t have to reload every driver and snapshot etc…

Would it be possible to implement this feature?
It would be cool if from the Web-GUI there was an option to save-flash the entire content
of Zynthian to a local back up, even for just preserving it in case the original Zynhian img or
medium got corrupted.

You could use webconf to perform a backup, flash a new image then restore your backup.

Oh yeah? I need to read the docs then. I’ll try later today, tnx.

It’s use should be encouraged.

I’m trying to flash the new img, Which gave me problem already, I used one before that’s the one I’m tryin to Bup but I don’t remember where was the link to it…
And I haven’t bupped the img also… argh…

I rember I update to Vangelis, but in a clean up moment, I must have
deleted the.img file that I had used… it isn’t the latest stable probably…
but I don’t remember which did I use…

btw I just learned the Balena etcher make also clones of disks!
I always used Clonezilla, it would be a first…

Pi Imager makes problem with exfat formatted sd’s
Balena don’t… under Mac Os… Maybe I did use Pi imager from my Pi???
Lots of variables… these small sd’s are so susceptible…

What does this means?
I can share my logs but where???
I have made a bup img, could I also share that???

What format should the Sd be?

MS-DOS FAT - MBR or GPUID - failed
Exfat - MBR - Failed

Maybe should try format it with windows in NTFS - MBR ?
Or leave the Disk without any format or partition???

I changed img in the meanwhile…
2025-02-17-zynthianos-oram-2502-stable-nosfz

It’s a genuine Samsung 126Gb Sd…

PS Nevermind, I reformatted it with gparted and left unallocated, and
switched to a 32gb USb, and it finally flashed the img without errors…
Maybe in a day or two I will come back with some results…
too hot to even lit the brain rn…

I heard constant strange noises from my bike engine all day and
yesterday a chinese usb-water-cooler caught fire and shorted my whole apt…
I have been a little busy rewiring up the system…

Ahhh… ok… start to make a little more sense…

unlike my mercury temp meter… it seems
a little vague between 80 and 100 fahrenheit…
It’s 10 PM and all windows are open…
It’s definitely not 80°…

The work flow tool is a excellent tutorial aid that would benefit us all if frequently used.

Not so hot here but humid.

Here too, just next to a river, feels like 110% humidity…

First backup failed? I mean it didn’t but it changed anything, and the version stayed Oram and didn’t
change back to vangelis… I uploaded the full backup folder with both Root and Zynthian subfolders and rebooted…
Now I uploaded only the Zynthian Subfolder, I can see my Osirus in the Data…
checking again… should I just reboot after the upload???

-ERROR- argh

Strange, I have ssh, I am still in ORAM, but have the DSPs and Osirus…
Should I update to Vangelis testing manually???

Ok, trying with Vangelis, but no other updates…

-ERROR- Argh

Seems like I’m stuck in a sort of loop I didn’t have before initialising the backup…

Maybe bc the other Zynthian image was built around Pi5?
I switched to the old Usb, Zynthian BUP Master…

-ERROR- tried to ssh in and Pi MIPI screen blacked out…
wow… I didn’t save any logs the BUP img before… didn’t remember I had this errors…
all seemed to just work… maybe the Pi5 Zyn I had built is incompatible with the Pi4??
Could it be?? Ok, retrying again… OK , it restarted, same loop of errors…

Uff, I forgot, I am using headphones on the PI4… obviusly the BUP isn’t going to work…
what a… sorry… I will switch to the Pi5… ( what was I thinking!!! Must be this humidity…)

NO ERRORS… BACKUP WORKED! efiuajshh! Ok tnx Wyleu! Gn!!

There is a traditional way gratitude can be expressed…
