Force loading kernel8.img in RBPi5

Hello,

i tried to setup the new Vangelis on my Pi5 with Touch Display2. Some software need the kernel8.img to run properly. If i set this option in webui and i cat /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt then there is something like ker/el=ker/el8.img.
I tried to write it in the file but its overwritten on boot process. I am not sure, perhaps it was a missconfigured thing in my special setup. Do i have to quote it or write it in a /zynthian/config/zynthian_custom_config.sh file?

Hi @micha82 !

What software do you mean?
The Vangelis BETA image works out the box. You shouldn’t need to tweak anything in cmdline.txt.

Hi @jofemodo,

o yea, its a special thing with rpi5. I want to setup a drbd “backup” of my other Pi5, and drbd-utils need this option, also some electron based flatpaks like freetube or logseq. Before on the Oram Install it works good with this kernel option set. So it has nothing to do with the zynthian software.

Try putting the line in the config.txt, not in the cmdline.txt:

kernel=kernel8.img

You should do it from the webconf tool:

Hardware Options => Custom Config

to avoid your config being overwritten on every update.
