Free Nord Modular G2s for everyone!

I think this may be interesting for the comunity.: A software which converts G2 Modular patches into CSound patches.
Then Cabbage software can convert csound patches into vst plugins…
If some kind of port could be made to use those vst…there are thousands of nord modular patches out there!

A Nord Modular G2 owner says . … . .

Nice.

Have you tried the Pianoteq as well and cannot compare Grand Piano and Rhodes?

Very nice! I hear something in my head calling: “Write a csound engine. Write it. NOW!!!” :joy:

Althou’ you get the Nord Modular G2 sounds, the user interface is probably one of the best parts of the machine.

I have installed csound and pch2csd and played around a little bit. The problem is the following (from https://github.com/gleb812/pch2csd/wiki/Making-a-new-module):

The pch2csd tool parses the Nord Modular G2 binary patch file with .pch2 extension and converts it into the .csd file of Csound. G2's modules are represented as user-defined opcodes, or UDOs for short. And although the pch2csd compiler is generally working, the tool's ability to convert your patches depends on the opcodes available. There are more than 200 modules in NMG2 and not all of them are implemented by this project at the moment. Another aspect is how close the UDOs simulate the Nord modules. Some of them can be just rough approximations made only to pass compilation, others can be more focused on the original sound. In this tutorial we briefly explain how to write your own UDO, compatible with the converter.

Until now, I found no patch from NM-G2 which I got converted.

But nevertheless I will try to implement a csound engine the next days/weeks/months/… Perhaps sometime the converter is usable for more patches.
