Hi all, I’m trying to get some custom Odin2 presets that I created with the GUI over VNC to show up in the Odin2 preset list but can’t figure it out.
I’ve created my preset in in the Odin2 interface using VNC.
I saved it with the window’s preset file drop down, this created the file
Odin2_weedpiano_catmom.preset.lv2
in
/zynthian/zynthian-my-data/presets/lv2
How do I now make it so that I can select that preset directly on the zynthian without using a VNC connection?
Also , if I load the preset using VNC, and then save as a Zs3 and then as snapshot over on the zynthian, the settings don’t stick when the snapshot is reloaded. What I get is the Odin preset that I started building the patch with, without any of my changes.
This is the right place. You simply have to follow this simply steps to get your presets listed by the zynthian-ui:
Create a chain with the plugin
Access presets menu
Bold click any preset (or empty if no presets for the plugin) to get the “preset options”
Then select “Scan for new presets”
Done!
FYI, you can also save the presets from the zynthian-UI (from “preset options” menu). If you do so, the re-scanning is automatic and saved presets will be shown directly without extra steps.
The “scan for new presets” didn’t seem to work, or if it did I can’t seem to find where it put them…but saving in the UI from the presets menu works great and is a better workflow for me.
When I do it over VNC they are outside of any of the preset subfolders, and just appear at the top of the preset list (the one in the VNC window title bar).
Yes, that’s where they are, they don’t show up in any of the Odin categories though after I do the rescan.
Also - something I just noticed is the modulation matrix settings don’t always seem to save correctly. the behavior is the same whether I save the preset in VNC or on the zynthian. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It always seems to remember the list of sources but loses the destinations.
The saving is probably just something I’m doing, and just using the preset menu in the Zynthian is fine.
The other thing I noted though, about the modulation matrix settings in Odin 2 not saving completely is a bigger issue (for me anyway). Can someone else give it a test and see if it’s just something with my set up or an actual issue?
The steps to reproduce are, make changes to the modulation matrix (I have about 6 things going on), then save the preset. Reload the preset and a lot of the destinations are lost (for me anyway).
When I first looked at Odin2 in VNC it has a message in the banks area of the screen that says the soundbanks folder wasn’t found and tells you where to create it. I went ahead and created it, and that seems to have thrown everything off - you don’t actually need it, so don’t do it! With the new install I didn’t make that folder and everything is fine.
When I rescan for saved lv2 files that I placed in
/zynthian-my-data/presets/lv2
it now works as expected, and places them in the “None” category.
The matrix modulation settings also seem to be saving correctly now.
@jofemodo is there a way to reset Odin2 to it’s initially installed state? It’s working how I want on a fresh install, but not with my active image.
Or, if there’s something to exclude when doing a backup/restore that would work for me too.
