Hehe, I’m not sure that i get everything here, based on my little experience with english (but i am listening a lot to Joseph Conrad these days, allthough i understand that he is maybe more polish originally than english). But i think i think it was a beautiful rendition, and the base 10, even though most people argues that it is quite natural, because of the way our hands are designed, is just another example of how selfassured humans can be. The base 6 system is far superior for counting livestock or trouts in the stream. Counting the one’s on one hand and the 6’s on the other will get you all the way to 35…
