How to delete a layer

Hello everybody. Yesterday my v4 kit arrived, I put it together and everything works fine. Though, I’m totally new to Zynthian.

I read the manual and it says that I might remove a layer by pressing bold select when beeing over the specific layer in the list of layers. But when I bold press select I’m asked, if I’d like to switch off the device, yes/no.

Do I do something wrong? Do you have an advice for me? Maybe some programming changed in between? Thanks in advance.

PS: My device is up-to-date, I updated the software this morning.

Hi @martin, welcome to the community. You will find us mostly harmless here .

You are pressing for too long. The buttons have three press modes:

  • Short press is a quick jab
  • Bold press is an assertive but non-lingering press
  • Long press is press and hold for a while

So you need to press and release before the long press is detected. The timing is configurable in “Advanced view” of http://zynthian.local/ui-options. By default you need to press the button for longer than 300ms but shorter than 2s to trigger a bold press, i.e. press for about a second then release.

Hi @riban, thanks for your help. It works perfectly well. :+1: If I have a bit more of experience with my brand new toy, maybe I can help adding such information to the wiki.

It is already there on the wiki:

There are 3 types of clicks (push-switch actions) that can be performed, depending on how long you hold down the knob (or hold your finger on the touch-display).

  • short click: less than 0.3 seconds
  • bold click: between 0.3 and 2 seconds
  • long click: more than 2 seconds
