Internal presets and soundfonts no longer visible when USB stick is present

Hi,

When I plug in a USB stick, presets for engines or soundfonts on SD card are no longer visible in webconf.

I understand that USB is not (yet) supported by webconf, and I am fine with that.

I would expect that USB would be completely ignored (like the file browser and the captures do ) and not result in not displaying anything at all.

If this is a design decision, I hereby humbly request to reconsider this. An overview of available presets is very handy.

Issue added

I see both internal and external (in Vangelis):

I wonder if it relates to the browser, e.g. are you using a mobile device, like a phone?

No, Firefox on Windows 11

Is this recently changed in Vangelis?

I see the same (non-faulty) behaviour in Oram and Vangelis.

[Edit] Also, Firefox behaves same as Chrome, i.e. cannot reproduce issue.

Just installed Vangelis, same problem as in Oram.

wait…

Interesting, I changed the USB drive for a VFAT one, that works ok (same as your picture).
But, that does not record MIDI because of illegal characters in the filename (that’s why I formatted it as HPFS).

I guess I will have to wait until ORAM 2507 with your fix for ticket 1416 is released…

Thanks!

Hans.

EDIT: It’s not the filesystem per se, another USB stick with NTFS works ok. It’s also not the size, another 64GB stick works ok.

But the combination of NTFS and a subdirectory that is not named sfz or SFZ on the drive will cause it to fail. And that also applies to 'System Volume Information', so if you add something on Windows, it wil subsequently fail.

Possibly the same applies to a VFAT drive, but I have not tested that.

If you only have one sfz directory for the soundfonts everything works, even with two USB drives. All other samples must remain in the root directory.

Hope this helps someone.

Hans.
