JC-303 (open303) on Zynthian?

Is there a way to get the JC-303 onto the Zynthian?

Yes. It’s open source and Juce-based, so it could be compiled as LV2 for aarch64. Perhaps it’s already done.

We are currently working to implement the “property parameters” so all Juce LV2 plugins get fully integrated with all its parameters.

That’s good !

Fatboy slim says: “Everybody needs a 303”.

Nekobi is unfortunately not a real substitute…

I built it and it works but without the parameter control I find it too limited. You can get into the GUI via VNC and tweak parameters but it will be better when we add parameter control of JUCE plugins to zynthian UI.

Note that the build process crashed my RPi4 based V4 but it was rapid on a RPi5 with active cooling.

Thanks for the info and for trying it out.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to build a package from the source code to install it.

I’ll wait until there is a simple solution.

Without control via the Zyntian UI, it is of course useless.

What would a Tb303 be without its 6 famous buttons…

IIRC I compiled it, and tried it. But then skipped it for MDA JX10 resp. Nekobi, with a distortion plugin and reverb in a line. JC303’s built-in distortion isn’t implemented yet.
Parameter support for JUCE plugins would be very nice, because some plugins are around.

Parameter support for JUCE plugins is being actively worked on.

I don’t really see the benefit of the JC303 over any of the other mono synths we have but, each to their own!

The JC303 sounds much closer to a Tb303 …

Nekobi and co. Try that too but fail…

I have various hardware clones here and know what I’m talking about.

Compare yourself…

Freeware is Open303 the best Tb303 Emulation…
