A kernel patch has been proposed that enables double data read speed from SD cards on a Rapberry Pi 4.
This is very promising for further improving boot speed, loading snapshots and engines, loading sound fonts, etc.
Eventually this will most likely find its way to the mainline kernels we’re using on our Zynthians… and nicely illustrates that software needs time and diligence to catch up with “new” hardware…
