Latest V5.1 is awesome. It runs really well with medium overclocking on a RPI4 4GB. Could you add recursive folder support for all files?

Hi,

It’s been a while since I posted here. I was real busy with work and now all of a sudden.. laid off. I had time to play with my Zynthian so I updated it to 5.1 and all I can say is WOW! It works and sounds great. I was getting my snapshots and midi loops organized and realized recursive subfolder support for capture, audio, and snapshots isn’t implemented yet. For now my work around is to have all my music project stuff organized and I pull it to the root of the folder when working with it so Zynthian can detect it, but that requires a computer or laptop nearby. I was hoping recursive folder support can be added soon. Is it possible ?

Hi @Jerryn !

  • Regarding snapshots, you can organize your snapshots in banks, as many as you want.

  • Regarding audio files, capture folder is just where captured audio tracks are saved. You can create subdirs as you like inside the audio directory:

/zynthian/zynthian-my-data/audio

Recursion is allowed.

I would recommend you to move to Oram staging or Vangelis branch, so you enjoy of the latest improvements and fixes in this area.

It seems ZynSampler can’t see files in this folder.

What about MIDI files and MIDI files folder? I suggest to create a specific folder MIDI for them to avoid caos

It should work. what versión are you using?

zyncoder: vangelis (a03a079)
zynthian-ui: vangelis (da406e8)
zynthian-sys: vangelis (d56ee3e)
zynthian-data: vangelis (1fffd91)
zynthian-webconf: vangelis (af16c55)

If you updated today, the audio folder has been moved to files dir.

not it is clear

the Audio folder is under files: /zynthian/zynthian-my-data/files

Yes. Almost all “user uploaded” files that can be browsed from the UI are under this directory now:

  • Samples (audio samples)
  • Audio (audio tracks and recordings)
  • IRs
  • NAM models
  • etc.

With the exception of:

  • MIDI files currently must be placed inside “captures”, but i’m looking to improve this too.
  • Soundfonts, because of “historical” reasons, although this could change in the near future.

For the rest of folders in the zynthian-my-data dir:

  • Presets is not directly browsable by the UI, as it’s managed by the preset cache subsystem. I prefer to keep it separated.
  • preset-favorites are generated by UI
  • snapshots are generated by the UI
  • captures are generated by the UI
  • zynseq is managed by zynseq (UI)

if I am right: today MIDI are in capture so no subfolders are allowed in the future you will find a proper placement

To complete please teach me (us) where are placed:

CUIA settings
Customizable Switches settings
Keyboard binding setting (should be /zynthian/config/keybinding.json)

All configuration data is normally stored in the config dir:

/zynthian/config

being this one the most important config file:

/zynthian/config/zynthian_envars.sh

Enjoy!

I just added a third source of mid files to the MIDI recorder, so now you can store your user mid files separately from captured ones. You must put your mid files here:

/zynthian/zynthian-my-data/files/Midi

No recursion is supported yet. And of course, this is available in Vangelis branch only.

Just update and enjoy!
