Launcher and clippy

Hi averybody,

I’m testing the new Vangelis image recently uploaded.

I have the idea of using clip launcher to create a snapshot which my folk band may use to prepare new songs. I create several clip launchder chains: one for percusion (used as a kind of friendly metronome), one for cue to help and other with the song (divided into parts). I am not too familiar with this so I first tried the simpliest way I can imagine.

For the purpose, I created a phrase with wav files that works nicely, then I’ve cloned it to see how easy is to automaticaly launch the second cloned phrase. The cloned phrase works well when it’s launched separatelly, however doesn’t work when automaticaly should play after the first phrase. Usually plays the first clip but doesn’t play the others.

Am I doing something wrong?

Any help will be appreciate.

BTW, as you can see in the video I setup 12 launchers but in launcher view only shows 9. Is this correct?

Hi @smespresati

A few observations that may help:

  • The “Visible Launchers” option defines the size of the rows, not the quantity of phrases. Phrases are added and removed by the user and may be scrolled if more are added than has been configured here, e.g. if you add 12 launchers and set visible launchers=8, then 8 will be shown and the other 4 can be accessed with up/down keys.
  • You can make clips shorter, e.g. you could have a single 1,2,3,4& cue.
  • I can’t reproduce the issue of automation not triggering the second phrase after cloning from the first. I note that in your example the first chain does play but the other’s don’t.

Right, I can do it shorter, but I didn’t find how to trigger the clips in the phrase sequencially, I mean when I trigger the phrase all clips start at once. That’s why I need silence before count 1, 2 … May the length be an issue?

The issue is the second phrase starts (once the first one ended), then plays the first clip but the others seems to be playing but no sound at all.

Thanks.

When you launch a phrase, all clips in a phrase are launched at once. You can’t automate sequential triggering of the clips in a phrase.

In the other hand, phrases are thought to be triggered sequentially and you have some automation options for this.

The launcher is not a linear arranger. It’s more a live performance launcher with some automation options.

Regarding the second issue, i"m not fully confident that cloning phrases is working fine with audio clips. I will check tomorrow .
