So, as far as I can tell, you can program 5 macros for this one rotary encoder, which seems kind of ideal for ppl building their own Zynthian beast. It looks kinda nice too.
I think the biggest issue is the fact it uses the Teensy 3.2 which have been extremely rare to get a hold of since they discontinued making them.
I actually have a T3.2 and LC and was hoping the LC would work on this.
Ideally a Teensy 4.0 could be used but that would require the pin outs that are used to be compatible, I’ve yet to try to figure that out.
I assume the PCB could be redesigned if there’s no T3.2-specific functionality however the PCB isn’t open source so it would be up to whether Deftaudio had the time and interest to do it.
If anyone gets one working with a T4.0 I’d love to know about it!
Likely I’ll order the parts for building one this week as I already have a couple of the PCBs. The Teensy 3.2s are the limiting factor though, there’s a whole bunch of projects that use them that haven’t been redesigned to use a T4.0 + external DAC.
Haven’t even built a Zynthian yet, it’s on the list of projects but… there’s also a backlog of projects I’m getting around to!
