…but is England continually under this cyclonic movement? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

It is pretty windy here today! I suspect much of the local air show will be cancelled.

A cyclonic movement has been hovering over your head for weeks. If this Topic can stay here in case of emergency I will publish the images and any alarms here… I am passionate about Radio and Meteorology.

Nothing too torrential here but we did have quite a rainstorm yesterday.

I’m happy about that… but I’ve been receiving weather images for years and I’ve never seen a continuous cyclonic movement for months in your area… Always clouds (I know what the weather is like in England), but something like this NEVER…

That sounds intriguing. Could you explain what we are looking at?

We are observing the Earth thanks to the Meteosat satellite that is in geostationary orbit above Africa. Meteosat sends the images using another satellite towards which you have to point a 2mt dish. The received signal passes through a DVB2 receiver (similar to TV decoders), enters the computer, is decrypted via an iLock and finally the image is shown on the monitor via a special software. The image you saw was delayed by about 10 minutes… so you can see the entire earth practically live. For those who are passionate about meteorology, this is a dream… like knowing how to play Debussy if you love the piano.
All this requires a very expensive license for commercial use… If you are a Radio Amateur with a license from the Ministry of Telecommunications you have a lifetime license for 100 Euros.
On my website you can see how it works: HRTP e METEOSAT - IZ3ZLU Op.Lanfranco Simoncelli

It’s been raining in Manchester.

This is not news!

High winds here on the south east coast. The airshow was delayed with some planes and all parachutists grounded but we saw a few displays, including a B17 Flying Fortress. Still very windy today with gusts over 40 knots.

Ah, you lucky Atlantic people, with a fresh weather all the year round! :smirk:

Cool, but very rainy… Unfortunately the Mediterranean climate no longer exists… when I was a child it was a wonderful climate… Here at 800 meters above sea level yesterday we had almost 30°… mind-blowing

After today I won’t care for a week. A quick hop across Europe to the south of Greece for a week where I may do far less zynthian based activites. (My wife won’t let me put a keyboard in the suitcase!)

Go to Greece… the cradle of civilization… the place where the most beautiful mythological stories exist… where the Sea is wonderful… where the houses are white with blue balconies… where Homer lived… where the Ithaca of the Great Odysseus is… and you want to think about Zynthian?.. I’ll go to Greece, I’m a diver and sailor (without a boat…) and you’ll stay under the cyclone in England… OK? I agree with your wife (a holy woman)… … Have a good holiday @riban.

When you fly over northern Italy, send me a greeting…
