MIDI mapping noteon/noteoff to multiple CC for Kaossilator Pro+

Hi

I was considering to get rid of my Kaossilator Pro+ but revisiting it taught me it’s too much fun. It benefits from being a robust child friendly looper as well.

With some workarounds it should be playable over external MIDI (USB or DIN-5).

By default, noteon/noteoff messages sent the other Kaossilator don’t trigger notes. Instead, the Kaossilator expects 3 CC messages.

Multiple paid and open source source solutions exist, however they add extra hardware:

I want to see if I can achieve the same in Zynthian.

Any ideas on the approach? I’ve seen many fancy tools eg mididings but am looking for easiest path.

I am also in need of a robust Note→CC converter - in my case, I own a Behringer FCB-1010, which is a somewhat limited bank of midi footswitches. It can send note on/note off when you step and release, but will not do CCz[value a] to CCz[value b] with step and release, so for instance, it can’t even do the most basic sustain pedal function.

Granted, the device is aimed at guitar players, but still, boo. Last time I tried to do it on Zynth I was told it was not possible, but it looks like they’ve greatly improved the situation now, so maybe now?
