Minimal ttymidi IN wiring

I was thinking, if we could agree on an official minimal wiring for those setups without encoders but tty midi in.

Are there solutions outside? We could add that wiring to the webconf?
Maybe a build wiki entry as well?

Do you mean a limited midi in attached to the pi I/O ports?

Yes, just that

Personally outside of testing I wouldn’t trust it without the opto isolator…and that’s before the 5v/3.3v issues

I’ve a bunch of 2inOne PCBs from v1 kit, implementing a basic MIDI-IN (with optocoupler) and MCP23008 that could be used for extra switches (not encoders) or omitted.

@mheidt, @wyelu, if you want, i could send you a few of them for free

I haven’t got a soldering iron out in a while so yes please!

Yes please, I could really use it.

I took the 2inOne of my first Zynthian in the meantime.
Now 8 unused pins are staring at me.
Is it possible, @jofemodo, that we define a new wiring for this board, that offers the CUIA action options in webconf?
I could imagine that it needs some work in the zyncoder though.

Yes, some work in the zyncoder is needed to update the MCP23008 code …
In fact, code for MCP23017 should be extended to support MCP23008 too, and former MCP23008 code should be removed.

I used a ribbon cable to connect it.
