MP3 + Piano Solved

Personally I hate sequencers… if I were the inventor of the Zynthian I would have used the potential to have more important sound banks… maybe less, but more realistic… but these are my needs and I understand that in these times the sequencer is very (too) used and therefore it was right to satisfy a multitude of people and not just me…

I don’t know if I read a post here about a software that writes chords… but if someone doesn’t know a minimum of chords and makes a sequencer play… is he a musician? Let posterity judge

That is an issue more settled by lawyers and such low life and since John Cage has successfully sued over 4’ 36" (subject to someone knowing better) a musical performance can be nothing.

I was always after the license deal on black in video but I never managed to convince anybody. . . .

He he! I am your nemesis that wrote those modules (sequencer & multichord). I love that zynthian is a toolkit with many tools and don’t expect anyone to use all of the tools. Just because I have a hammer in my toolbox doesn’t mean I have to use it on every job!

Some zynthian users are not musicians. They may be producers, composers, arrangers, art installation technicians, etc. I can manage a chord but it can be handy to trigger a chord from a single note, e.g. hitting a pad on an octapad.

Yesterday I watched Jean Michael Jarre’s recent concert and he uses lots of these tools. In fact quite a lot of his performance was kinda miming whilst sequencers played much of the music.

We listen to everyone, even musicians .

You’re talking about someone who knows how to play chords… Comparing music to painting, anyone can paint a canvas… but if he was a great painter for twenty years before then, the paint is done in a more conscious way… or in any case there is preparation behind it… But I don’t want to create a debate… I’m just saying that to make music it WOULD be right to know at least the basics

The famous bells of @wyleu

A regular discussion round my neck of the woods.
It’s all useful and the speed of classically trained low life is amazing. Throw a score at them and it’s instant.

I think there is a difference between entertainment and performance.

To perform you must understand the music.
To entertain you must understand the audience.

Which is probably why I ring bells in towers two floors up with heavy wooden doors and early in the morning before the reluctant audience is properly awake.

Meanwhile with the assistance of Lilypond

I think people wake up because of your bells… otherwise they would sleep happily…
I have a friend who does bell shows… there are six or seven people who synchronize and do wonderful things…

Love to see a video, we are planning something ludicrous for next year using bells, idiocy and a medieval market square…

I don’t have video… I’m talking about at least 25 years ago… I can tell you that the bells were mounted on a horizontal axis above a structure and each player would swing them in time to get melodies… a beautiful musical spectacle.
The place in the photo seems perfect for such a show…but without sequencer please

It was something like that but with 6 or 7 bells all different from each other and 6 or 7 people rang at the same time.

You see @riban… MUSICIANS!!!

Hi @Lanfranco

What method is this? Do you have a link to the publisher’s page?

Thanks!

This is the James Aebersold method. It included scores in C, Bb and Eb and bases played by professionals. An excellent method for playing jazz standards that I bought many years ago spending a lot of money… . If I remember correctly there were 106 CDs with scores. The bases are composed of piano, double bass and drums, the piano is on one channel and the rhythm section on the other, so you can eliminate one or the other. Ciao

…who often doesn’t understand Music…

How is the method called?

Sounds interesting, do you have a book suggestion for a 87 year old advanced pianist (my dad still practices everyday and likes trying out things, he puts me to shame) Christmas is coming.

Jamey Aebersold play along… but just look for Aebersold method.

What genre does he play? If he plays jazz this Aebersold method is good, but obviously if he plays classical or other genre, this method will be used to light the fireplace.
