MP3 + Piano Solved

I’m studying a piece by Monk and I would like to have the drums and double bass underneath to get an idea of what I’m doing… I have the piece in MP3 (Aebersold method) and I inserted it into the MP3 folder from web conf… Is there a way to listen to it and have the piano working to play on it? Thanks for any info

Load up zynsampler from an instrument chain, category 2, into a chain, then select the mp3 file from the preset menu if you have touch screen buttons turned on…

Thanks Chris. but… I understand that the Zynthian is not designed for these things… but would it be very complicated to have the possibility of listening to an MP3 using an instrument? This jewel does a million things… it would be nice (maybe only for me) to include the entire Aebersold Method and be able to play along… :star_struck:

@Lanfranco what are you asking? @wyleu explained how to play an MP3 in zynthian which you can do whilst playing the zynthian or another instrument.

Ah, but it’s all very fast… fantastic!!! Thanks @wyleu @riban

Unfortunately I don’t explain myself well in English (but maybe also in Italian…).
I would like to insert the Aebersold Method in MP3, select an MP3 song and play on it without necessarily creating a chain that I would have to do for each song that I intend to study… but I see that the import is very fast and so I will do as explained by @wyleu.

… only that in this way the “base” on which I would like to play starts when I touch the keys as if it were a preset… while I would like to start it and then play an instrument while I listen to the base… Like karaoke in short

ZynSampler User Guide - ZynthianWiki describes how to use this plugin. You can operate it’s transport control to start and stop it playing. You can adjust playback speed is you want to play slower whilst learning a song. You can set markers to play or loop a section. It’s quite a useful tool for learning songs.

Thanks as always @riban…I always try to understand through the manual, but my English is a big brake…

I added a button to my Zynthian… To start the transpose… It doesn’t work yet, did I configure it correctly in Web conf?
Now the transpose only works with the encoder… can I configure the button instead of the encoder? Thanks

P.S.
The button is detected by the Zynthian

How did you do this.? GPI pin’s on the Pi, MC23017 input pin?

Photos’ is probably a good thing at this point. If they are in a previous thread could you link to it? I’m a lazy wyleu and and heavily involved in a complex and difficult operation involving bells…

I already closed the Zynthian… sorry @wyleu
The button is connected to pin 5 of the MPC23017, in fact on WebConf it is configured as 104.
When I press it I see the M symbol on the display, so it interacts. but if I try to configure it it does not start the transpose…

With Midi learn it is not seen…

That is useful in itself… and saves us a lot of time with the multimeter…

My opinion is that it should be set differently on WebConf… But I only see the interaction if I select the item you see in the first photo…

You have bound the button to MIDI transport but you want to operate the transport control of zynsampler in a chain. You can do this by mapping the button to a CC then MIDI learning the control. You will have to set the CC learn control to toggle.

Two Zynthian wizards all for me today??? Thanks…
So @riban, I select on Switch 1 MIDI CC (or MIDI CC Switch?) in the drop-down menu and then from the Zynthian I record it with MIDI Learn?

Thanks @wyleu and @riban
I managed to do it after several attempts… as I always said I’m not at all familiar with MIDI… This is the working configuration:

Congratulations! it really is a very handy tool and did sterling work in a church for about a month for me faultlessly.

Actually we say pretty much the same thing.

It’s not something one tends to talk about generally in bars and bordellos with polite company . . .

    This is true… but having always played “real” instruments, I never delved into this topic. Only after the construction of the Zynthian did the doors to this world open…

It’s nearly always beneficial to look at a subject you like from a new perspective…

Some friends of mine see MIDI as something leaden and automaton-like because they have come at it from sequencers and associate it with that sort of technology.
They just don’t understand how it can be working in an Electric Grand Piano in the way that it does with all the nuance it offers.
