Yes!
Well that’s good.
If it’s ok, can I ask, how is it done ? Or will it be released with the next stable img ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi @Yan !
Zynthian is a linux distribution based in Raspberry Pi OS (Debian). You can install packages from the repository normally from the command line, using apt-get.
Regards,
it’s not bundeled by default in Zynthian. But like any other great FOSS, you can install it on debian with a simple command line:
apt install muse
Hello @Yan,
I would advise to keep in mind that you might be able to run MusE on Zynthian, that is in a customised Raspbian environment, but that you are very likely to run into issues of limited compatibility, with the specific Oram’s OS, GUI and workflow implementation.
MusE is, by clear warning of its own developers, a very evolutionary app, still laden with bugs even in a normal Debian ecosystem.
I recommend to work in Zynthian with what its carefully designed system has to offer, with a streamlined and highly efficient user interface. Otherwise, if you really want to operate beyond the Oram’s limits and philosophy, any portable mini-PC with Linux onboard would probably serve you better.
Regards
To clarify my answer, yes it can be installed but no we will not integrate it with zynthian software.
When I’ve discovered Zynthian, I saw it immediately as the best way to get rid of all the DAW stuff (sequencers like Muse, Qtractor, Rosegarden or Ardour, instruments, plugins, sessions manager, routing patch bays + one or two big displays + audio interface + … ).
All of this sutff is excellent, but is highly time consuming when trying to seting up a working (at least) and fully satisfying (harder to achieve) environment.
I can’t say how much I am thankfull to @jofemodo for having packed some of the best of FOSS Linux music apps in a little box.(add: afordable and versatile).
With a simplified UI + an integrated mixer +a dedicated sequencer + … Zynthian has changed totaly the way I’m playing music.
