Mutable Instruments Braids and Plaits → Zynthian Aether, Mutated Instruments, and Chaos Engine

I created a monster!

https://github.com/PatttF/zynMI/releases/download/BraidsPlaitsMarbles/mi_mutated-arm64.zip

Mutated Instruments
It’s Plaits and Braids as Oscillators in one plugin with separate ADSR for each, a mod matrix that can make some wild stuff, and a collection of filters with the ability to set a target. It seems rock solid too. This thing really is the gift that keeps giving and kind of reminds me of a Minifreak.

Ohhh Yeahhh!
It’s indeed a monster!! I was jamming a little bit:

Braid is like a wall and Plaits a flying bird

Ahhh Yes, the drums are from fabla with a hydrogen soundfont and the reverb is Aether.

Thanks!

That was really cool. Plaits and Braids are way deeper than people expect, and then we added the option of them modulating each other.

I’m testing Mutated right now. Very funny and lots of possibilities! What about a stereo mod with pan control for each oscillators?

Let me think about the best way to do that.

This is a great example where open sourcing software can lead to. Thanks to Émilie Gillet and her wonderful hardware devices

And thanks to you @PatF

when will it be available in Vangelis?

Right now!

Wooo! Thanks.

Mutated Instruments now has separate panning and glide for Braids and Plaits as well as a second filter so you can ajust them separately.

@PatF, just a short (friendly meant) question about the lv2 plugin names …

I just read the guidelines for derivative products of MI products (GitHub - pichenettes/eurorack: Eurorack modules), and was asking myself whether MI Braids and MI Plaits are to close to the original names?

Regards

Good catch, while it’s not technically against the terms they need to be respected. Honestly those 2 don’t even need to be distributed since the functionality is already in Mutated Instruments. I’ll get this sorted when I get home. Marbles will have to have a new name though.

Braids and Plaits have been removed from the zip and Marbles renamed Chaos Engine.

So now it’s just Aether, Mutated Instruments, and Chaos Engine.

I noticed that Attack in envelope is not working properly. I mean that when i try to set a long attack it seems to don’t have a real effect, and the attack remain short. I don’t own the original Braid and Plait modules, so i can’t say if this is a normal behaviour.

Yes. I can confirm this behaviour with plaits.

It’s not, they don’t have ADSR, I’ll look at it tonight. Thanks for letting me know.

I added the new names to the title of this topic.

was:

Mutable Instruments Braids and Plaits

now:

Mutable Instruments Braids and Plaits → Zynthian Aether, Mutated Instruments, and Chaos Engine

Updated to fix the attack. Plaits was set to always have instant attack, oops lol.

In my Webconf I still have the old names

Have you clicked the button at the top to search for new engines? Plaits and braids didn’t get renamed, just removed. Only Marbles got renamed.

I did it, but Plaits and Braids are still there
