I’m on oram, and I’m trying to use the metronome, but I can’t get any audio, even though it’s set to On and full volume. Is this supposed to get it going or am I misunderstanding how it works? The manual is a bit sparse on this particular subject…
IIRC the internal metronome only operates when a sequence is running. It was designed to assist with live recording into sequencer patterns. We are considering how to change the time/sync system so this may be changed in the future.
Aha! Yes, that would improve usability, it’s not easy to guess for a new user. But at least now I know I can get it going using an empty sequence. Thanks!
As @jofemodoexplains, currently the metronome button is used exclusively to set the (main) tempo (of the sequencer, I think, which I don’t use).
Changing that wouldn’t be a good idea.
If I may, I would like to propose the following:
Keep the current behaviour as it is now
Add an option to the main Admin menu, that allows you to choose between the current behaviour (default) or a “normal” metronome
(similar to the Program Change choice between ZS3 and preset)
In ‘metronome mode’ it starts ticking when you press the metronome button and stops when you press it again
Bold press selects metronome settings (something like C* Click - Metronome would be great but a simple BPM setting is also fine)
Perhaps you or others have better ideas, but I think this could be a start without disrupting current functionality.
