Oram questions

@jofemodo
I have issues with this scenario now. How is a Midi channel translation possible?
I tested with two zynthians. The first only contains Midi chains (empty ones), is running in active mode and the Midi-OUT DIN is enabled. Now I would expect, that instead of the incoming Midi Channel 1, the one of the selected midi chain is forwarded to MIDI-DIN-OUT. But the second zynthian, which is connected in multitimbral mode only receives the original MIDI Channel 1.

Select ā€œall chansā€ for the MIDI chains in the second zynthian

You mean under MidiOut/Chain Inputs? I tried that to no avail…

Hi @mheidt !

MIDI Channel translation is managed automatically by ā€œactiveā€ mode: the active chain receive MIDI notes from selected devices (in ACTIVE mode) and notes are translated to chain’s MIDI Channel.

For devices using MULTI mode, no channel translation is done. Notes from these devices are routed to chains according to the MiDI Channel.

If you want to translate MIDI Channel inside a MIDI chain, you should use some MIDI tool from the collection.

Hi @jofemodo

Yes, that is what I would expect. But I think that if you use an empty Midi Chain in active mode, the translated midi channel is not routed to Din Midi Out. Yes, it is activated in Midi OUT
Is there a way that I would see the translation in the MIDI logs?

Thanks, Markus
