Pi4 connect 4 rotary encoders without zynscreen >>AllinOne?

Hi Zynthian community,
first congrats for this awesome project!!!
I want to build a Zynthian Box with a Pi4, the latest kits have been sold with zynscreen to connect the 4 rotary encoders… can I use the Allinone pcb instead to connect the encoders and midi? …and ist it working out with the newest zynthian OS?

I allready browsed the Zynthian github repos, but I couldn`t find an answer, still seems very komplex for me with the different Kits , compatibility etc…

so, would be great receiving some insight…

I have done this very successfully with several different zynthians some of which run the current testing branch.
It allows uses of a vnc read only client or hdmi monitor with all the functionality except the touchscreen options, which can be provided with a USB mouse and turning on the cursor.

Hi @danOS144 !

Currently only “zynaptik MIDI” is available and it can’t be used for connecting encoders. Sorry!

But don’t worry, you have several options:

  • Wait for more kits, but it could take a little bit

  • Connect the encoders and switches directly to the RBPi pins. There are some threads discussing this topic in the forum.

  • Buy a mcp23017 module.

Good luck!!

@wyleu , so you connectet the 4 rotary endcoders and the Midis with the allinone module?

Thanks so far!
i have some experience with making pcb and wanted to do them myself. Isn`t there some pcb ( possibly without smd parts…) or schematic of the needed modules for the 4 encoders and midi connection in the github repos?

I have some AllInOne PCBs. Let me look for them.
