I ran 8 OBXd’s and got a temp of nearly 75. It began to give xruns but no temp warning. Load was 67%. Around 10 minutes or so.
My pi still has no heatsinks whatsoever.

I think some xrun is normal if you have 8 OBXd layers …

This suggests that new RPi4 firmware fixed heat issues and that the main source of heat is USB chipset. Who would have thunk it? I know what I will be getting for Christmas 
.

If that is true, that is awesome!
So does that mean no need for heatsink or fan? That would be mega awesome. Is there a way how I can see if a RPi4 gets shipped with the new bootloader?
Well the temp is reported on the status page, so we should be able to build up a list of Processor against temp for various different rigs.
All mine are 3B +'s as I haven’t got a 4 mounting I like yet. I will probably go for the hifiberry white case . . . .
Even if the heating problem has been solved, who cares! Liquid cooling FTW!
