Pianoteq not showing up after installing

Hi Zynthians!

Just bought the v5.1 and start using this device.

i am a long time user of pianoteq on mac so i wanted to put it on zynthian too.

i grabed the 8.4 installer and put my licence key in. reboot.

if i go to the engines in webconf i see pianoteq in there and put a checkmark next to it. it says „toggle“

do i then need to apply this somewhere or should it show up next to the other synthesizers (like dexed etc.) in the zynthian ui of oram?

what am i doing wrong?

Hi @sndnmd! A very warm welcome to the club.

You have to select the “Piano” category to see pianoteq. See this section of the user manual.

This „piano“ should be in the synth chain right?

If you add a synth chain, you are offered a list of synth engines. Initially this list shows, “MIDI Instrument/Synth”. Pressing the right arrow shows, “MIDI Instrument/Sampler”. Pressing the right arrow again shows, “MIDI Instrument/Piano”.

If this is not clear from the docs then please offer a suggestion for how the docs could be improved.

well that was not at all obvious to me. since synthesisers have categorised sub- sets of presets that fall in the piano category, my brain must have skipped the half sentence that mentions it.

i guess there should be an indicator on screen, that i can go left or right on the first screen. or is there?

i‘ll go check it out.

The two controllers on the bottom right show this info.

The manual is not clear. Since Synths themselfes have categories like piano and organ too. Please consider adding something like

„e.g. INSIDE the Synth CHAIN you have categories: Synth, Sampler, Piano, Organ, Acoustic & Percussion. You can use the 3rd encoder to select these.“

Really?

https://wiki.zynthian.org/index.php/Zynthian_UI_User's_Guide_-_Oram#Processor_selector

You can read:

The processor selector is a selector view, but a very special one. It will pop-up when creating a new chain or when adding or replacing processors in a existing chain.

5.3.1 Processor categories

To ease selection and avoid long lists, processors are classified in categories. The selector allows easy browsing across categories and processors so you can find what you want as fast as possible.

And this chart is included too, among others:

With this text:

  • knob#3

    • rotate to move across categories.
    • short-push to open the full info view.
  • knob#4

    • rotate to move across processors.
    • short-push to select a processor.
    • bold-push to toggle view-all mode.
  • LEFT/RIGHT to move across categories.

  • UP/DOWN to move across processors.

  • SEL to select a processor.

  • BACK to cancel the selection and return to previous view.

The info is there, but of course, there is always room for improvement.

Regards
