Power supply to a midi controler

Hello there,

I use an Arturia KeyLab mk3 to control my Zynthian V5 via USB. It works fine but sometimes I see the control lights flickers, even it shutdowns once in a while. the specs says it needs 12.0V DC / 1.0A. Do you think the Zynthian box can handle it ? I also have a focusrite connected

Thanks

Hi @MikeRodd,

Unless the V5 5-DIN connectors are already taken by other Midi gear, I suggest feeding power to the Arturia controller’s USB-C port through a common smartphone charger of recent production, and transmitting Midi data to the Zynth using ordinary Midi Out/In cables.

This is aimed at preserving the precious incoming current from the V5 PSU for the workings of the Z innards, considering that the Arturia MK3 keyboard is a nice beast to power, presumably requiring a good share of current in order to work reliably.

Alternatively, you can send Midi data directly to the Focusrite Midi In, selecting it as Midi input of your Zynthian chains, thus saving you V5 Midi connectors for other usage.

Cheers :slightly_smiling_face:

get yourself one of these

They cost about 10 euro and are always handy to keep in your drawer!

This is mine

Yes I’ll do that, and buy a midi tester
