I have a Zynthian made without official kit: RPi5 and a audio hat
It works well.
I would like to replace the audio hat with a Presonus Audiobox USB connected to an USB port of RPi5 to have audio and MIDI I/O.
Question: is Presonus Audiobox USB supported by ORAM? which other models and brand are supported?
You mean one of these …?
plug it in and using the webconf terminal in INterface type…
aplay -l
and hit return
copy & paste the output here and that should allow us to see what needs to be set.
Hi @piattica
As posted before, my Presonus Studio 26c worked out-of-the-box once the audio driver in webconf was set to Generic USB Device.
I would surmise therefore that its slightly lesser brother or equivalent sibling AudioBox should function likewise with the same settings.
Regards!
Be aware that the staging version of zynthian software now includes a field in the HARDWARE ->Audio page called, “Soundcard Device” that allows selection of any detected soundcards.
yes, I would like to buy it as second hand
and what about MIDI I/O?
Once connected, if you choose Midi IN and Midi OUT in the options (bold-press lower encoder) of each created mixer chain you can select Presonus (with whatever name it appears) as Midi DIN I/O peripheral. Or, you can feed audio through the Audiobox, and receive/send MIDI from/to a computer with the USB-A port, assuming you own an official kit. Otherwise, it is Presonus DIN or USB-B to Midi adapter.

also these items could work as audio and MIDI without special settings?
The general rule-of-thumb with the latest USB Audio/Midi Linux implementations is that class-compliant devices (that is, built according to driver standards that adhere to agreed compatibility rules, for their class of appliances) should work with standard OS drivers as shipped. Most modern audio interfaces function in this way, but… there are known and notable exceptions of course.
I cannot talk about those other USB devices in your list, since I do not own them, but they should work with the Generic USB audio overlay selectable in webconf.
Ciao!
