Came across this article on the Producely Dialr. Some pretty big claims (“Dialr supports 100.000+ of VST3 and AU plugins out of the box.”) with equally big price for a controller (I would hate to know the number plus shipping converted into AUD and taxes!). A view sort of supported in this video which coincidentally mentions how Zynthian pulls parameters from LV2 plugins.
Like @paulee, I am sceptical of how much machine learning is used and how effective that would be. What ois generally (incorrectly) referred to as “AI” is likely to perform as well as it normally does, providing a layout of controls that it has deduced you may want and calling them things like it reckons you might want them called, and invariably be sufficiently close to make it look like magic but, kinda like a kid doing their first magic show to their grandparents, where things go awry and leave you feeling a bit disappointed. And without any real demo or info, it is currently a bit of smoke and mirrors.
If it can always put the control I want under the finger I want based on the activity or workflow I am doing then I would be amazed. I remain sceptical.
But, listening to / watching the YouTube Podcast thing, I was interested to see 4ms’s MetaModule that has a few similarities to riban modular (blatent plug!). I may have seen this before but my old brain forgets such stuff… I will make sure I mention it in the forum as there is a lot of overlap between the two.
BTW, at SuperBooth 2024 I played with the Electra One and was very impressed, though couldn’t justify the cost - albeit probably worth every penny… to someone who would use it a lot.
+1
nowadays AI is a huge marketing buzzword… that it is believed to sell at any price.
I think the price of the Dialer is a joke, AI or A1, for April 1st, a bit late.
